The case
Sustainable tourism has grown in the hotel industry, with guests looking for accommodations that care for the environment. Grupo Pinares replaced individual shampoo, conditioner and soap packaging with bulk dispensers and has adopted plastic-free alternatives since 2019. The result was a significant cost reduction, both from a lower price and less waste, and the transition to better, sustainable and organic products.
Unplastify supported the process of measuring the reduction of disposable plastics in the company's internal and external operations and certified the change to communicate its impact.

Highlights
The initial investment in dispensers paid for itself in 6 months. The cost reduction made it possible to offer a higher-quality product: sustainable and organic products, free of parabens and silicones, and less waste of bar soaps and of shampoo and conditioner.
It also improved storage logistics, reduced the carbon footprint and increased the efficiency of the cleaning service.
“This decision also allowed us to choose a sustainable and organic product, one without parabens, formaldehyde, salt or silicones, and biodegradable in water.”
Soledad Servedio, management director at Grupo Pinares
